Plants typically rely on manual aerial photography, aerial photogrammetry and LiDAR to create topographical surveys for exploration work. Carrying out aerial manual surveying is costly and time consuming.

With this drone solution, millions of data points are created with each scan. These are used to create a high resolution surface model. This offers a much higher point density capacity than traditional topographical surveys. This drone survey also provides full waveform capacity and a larger than standard field of vision with faster airborne acquisition. With automated and predefined flights, longitudes and volumes are captured in minutes, making it a faster and more cost-effective alternative to manual surveying.

The challenge

Plants typically rely on manual aerial photographic surveys, aerial photogrammetry and LiDAR to create topographical surveys. These can miss out sections of ground, due to accessibility issues; are time consuming to produce; and expensive.

By automating the process using an unmanned drone, it is possible to reach areas that are tricky to access by aeroplane and create full topographical surveys for exploration in much less time and more cost effectively than with standard manual survey methods.
