The safety of a mine is reliant on the continuous monitoring of where the workforce and assets are at any one time and ensuring that only authorised personnel with the required permits to work are accessing specific areas or using specific assets. Most mines rely on a mix of digital and human checks before allowing personnel into specific areas or to operate heavy/light plant, but this system is not 100% secure. It is open to human error and rule flouting, which puts the safety of the mine, its workforce and the wider environment and community at risk.

This new ultrasonic wireless authentication safety solution allows you to identify, authenticate, track and give access to personnel, equipment and assets across the mine, significantly minimising the safety risks. It can, for example, ensure that only authorised trained personnel have access to explosives, only those with the correct training and credentials can start vehicles or that people cannot enter areas, such as confined spaces, without the appropriate permits.

This ultrasonic secure authentication solution uses the microphone and speakers of a smartphone or tablet to securely transmit ultrasonic wave patterns, which can then securely unlock digital access control keys wherever they are placed in your mining operation. These digital access control keys can control access and use or areas, assets and equipment.

The system authenticates and tracks everyone and everything that enters and exits through each secure access point, to give full visibility of everyone working in an area, for example, entry into confined space areas, and it can also be used to temporarily assign contract workers clearance.

It can be implemented on a mine’s vehicle fleet to guarantee that only trained personnel with a permit to work on equipment and drive vehicles can use it.

It also offers a superior geofencing solution to WiFi or Bluetooth in terms of accuracy. It uses radio frequency identification to create invisible geographical boundaries on-site and can trigger warnings when unauthorised workers or vehicles enter these hazardous geofenced areas.

The software can replace or complement traditional safety measures. It can be integrated into most third-party apps (iOS, Android, .Net, JS, Java) including existing corporate apps for example - making it easy to deploy, roll out and use.
